Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Pump

The Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Pump transforms wine preservation from a cumbersome chore into an effortless ritual. Designed by renowned industrial designer Matteo Thun, this rechargeable automatic pump eliminates the need for space-consuming vacuum sealers or manual hand pumps with frustrating hoses and valves.

Wine preservation technology has traditionally required either bulky countertop equipment or manual pumping that left you uncertain whether you'd achieved adequate vacuum pressure. Zwilling's solution is elegantly simple: place the pump on your bottle's vacuum sealer, press the button, and walk away. The pump draws air out automatically and stops when the correct negative pressure is reached, extending wine freshness up to five times longer than conventional storage methods.

Key features of the Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Pump:

  • Automatic operation: One-button activation with intelligent shut-off when optimal pressure is achieved - no guesswork involved
  • Rechargeable convenience: Fully charges in approximately 2 hours, eliminating battery waste and ensuring the pump is ready when needed
  • Quiet performance: Operates discreetly without the noise typically associated with vacuum systems
  • Award-winning design: Created by Matteo Thun, the pump's elegant form makes it worthy of display rather than storage in a drawer
  • Effortless preservation: Removes air in seconds, providing up to five times longer freshness compared to simply recorking opened bottles
  • Compatible system: Works with Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Wine Sealers for complete wine preservation

This pump suits wine enthusiasts who open bottles throughout the week, hosts who want to preserve wines between gatherings, and anyone frustrated by manual vacuum pumps that require repeated pumping or leave doubt about whether adequate vacuum has been achieved. The automatic operation means consistent results every time.

What Customers Ask About Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Pump

How does this differ from manual vacuum pumps?

Manual vacuum pumps require repeated pumping action and leave you uncertain whether you've achieved adequate vacuum pressure. The Zwilling Fresh & Save pump operates automatically with one button press, removing air in seconds and stopping precisely when the correct pressure is reached. This ensures consistent preservation results without physical effort. The rechargeable design also eliminates the mechanical wear that eventually affects manual pumps.

What do I need to use this pump?

The pump requires Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Wine Sealers, which are placed on wine bottle openings before the pump is positioned on top. The sealer creates the seal whilst the pump removes the air. The pump and sealers are sold separately, allowing you to purchase multiple sealers for different bottles whilst using a single pump. The system is designed specifically for wine bottles rather than general food storage.

How long does the battery last between charges?

Zwilling doesn't specify exact bottle counts per charge, as usage varies based on bottle sizes and initial air volume. However, the pump charges fully in approximately 2 hours from empty, and the rechargeable design means you can top up the charge between uses. The elegant design encourages leaving the pump on display where you can place it on its charger when not in use, ensuring it's always ready.

Does vacuum preservation affect wine quality?

Vacuum preservation removes oxygen that causes oxidation, the primary reason opened wine deteriorates. By removing air whilst the wine remains in the bottle, vacuum sealing slows oxidation without introducing inert gases or requiring wine transfer to smaller containers. The Zwilling system is designed to achieve appropriate negative pressure without over-vacuuming, which could theoretically strip volatile aromatics. For wines you'll finish within a week, vacuum preservation provides practical freshness extension.

Will this work with sparkling wine or Champagne?

This system is designed for still wines rather than sparkling wines or Champagne. Sparkling wines require pressure retention rather than vacuum preservation - the carbonation itself provides pressure inside the bottle. For sparkling wines, specialised Champagne stoppers that maintain existing pressure are more appropriate than vacuum systems that remove air.

Understanding Wine Preservation Technology

Wine deterioration after opening is primarily caused by oxidation - the chemical reaction between wine compounds and oxygen that progressively dulls aromatics, flattens flavours, and eventually turns wine to vinegar. Traditional approaches include drinking the bottle quickly, transferring wine to smaller containers to minimise air contact, or using inert gas systems that blanket the wine surface.

Vacuum preservation takes a different approach by removing the oxygen rather than displacing it or minimising contact area. The Zwilling Fresh & Save system creates negative pressure inside the sealed bottle, drawing out air whilst the wine remains undisturbed. The automatic shut-off ensures consistent pressure levels - critical because insufficient vacuum leaves too much oxygen, whilst excessive vacuum could theoretically affect wine structure.

The "up to five times longer" freshness claim reflects comparative testing against simply recorking opened bottles. Practical results vary based on wine type - delicate whites and light reds show more dramatic preservation benefits than robust reds with natural preservative tannins. Vacuum preservation works best for wines you'll consume within several days to a week, complementing rather than replacing proper wine storage practices for longer-term keeping.

Care & Use Instructions

First Use: Fully charge the vacuum pump before first use. Connect to the charging cable and allow approximately 2 hours for complete charging. The indicator light will signal when charging is complete.

Operating the Pump: Place a Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Wine Sealer firmly on the open wine bottle. Position the vacuum pump on top of the sealer, ensuring proper alignment. Press the button once - the pump will automatically draw out air and stop when the correct pressure is reached. Remove the pump and leave the sealer in place on the bottle until you're ready to pour again.

Removing the Sealer: When you want to pour more wine, gently lift the tab or edge of the sealer to release the vacuum. You'll hear air entering the bottle as the seal breaks. Pour your wine, then reposition the sealer and use the pump again to preserve the remaining wine.

Cleaning: Wipe the pump exterior with a slightly damp cloth as needed. Do not immerse the pump in water or place it in the dishwasher. Ensure the pump is completely dry before charging or storing. Clean the charging contacts periodically with a dry cloth to ensure efficient charging.

Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid leaving the pump completely discharged for extended periods. If you won't use the pump for several weeks, charge it fully before storage. The battery performance may gradually decrease over years of use, which is normal for rechargeable devices.

Storage: Store the pump in a dry location away from direct heat or moisture. The elegant design encourages display storage where the pump remains accessible and can be placed on its charger between uses. Avoid dropping the pump or subjecting it to impacts that could affect the internal mechanism.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does delivery take?

Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses typically takes 3-5 working days. Next day delivery may be available for £9.95 on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. We pack all items carefully with protective packaging to ensure safe arrival.

Can I return the pump if it doesn't work for me?

We offer a no quibble return guarantee that allows you to return goods even after use. The items must be in a resaleable condition and in their original packaging. Please wrap or box items appropriately for transit to avoid damage to goods or boxes.

What's included with the vacuum pump?

The vacuum pump includes the pump unit, charging cable, and instructions. The Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Wine Sealers that fit on bottle openings are sold separately, allowing you to purchase the quantity you need.

What happens if the pump stops working?

Zwilling products typically include manufacturer warranty coverage for defects. If your pump develops a fault, contact us with your proof of purchase and we'll help arrange warranty service or replacement. Our customer service team can guide you through the warranty claim process and advise on your options.

Can I use this pump with other vacuum sealer brands?

The Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Pump is designed specifically for use with Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Wine Sealers. Using it with other brands' sealers may not create proper vacuum seal or could damage the pump. For optimal performance and warranty coverage, use the pump with Zwilling's compatible sealing system.

How do I know when the battery needs recharging?

The pump includes indicator lights that signal battery status. If the pump operates more slowly than usual, fails to achieve proper vacuum, or doesn't activate when the button is pressed, the battery likely needs recharging. Regular charging after several uses helps ensure the pump is always ready when needed. Consult the instruction manual for specific indicator light meanings.

Is this suitable as a gift?

The Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Pump makes an excellent gift for wine enthusiasts, particularly when paired with vacuum sealers. The Matteo Thun design and premium packaging reflect the quality of the product. Consider purchasing the pump together with a set of sealers to provide a complete wine preservation system. The elegant design ensures it's a gift that won't be hidden away in a drawer.

Complete Your Wine Preservation System

The Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Pump requires Zwilling Fresh & Save Vacuum Wine Sealers (sold separately) to function. Consider purchasing multiple sealers so you can preserve several opened bottles simultaneously whilst using a single pump. The system's modular design allows you to build your wine preservation capability according to your needs, whether you typically have one or several bottles open at once.

Deliveries currently suspended

Due to ongoing issues, we have had to suspend deliveries to mainland Europe and the Republic of Ireland. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Rest of the World

If your country is not listed - including the USA, Australia, and other destinations - this is most likely because couriers charge by volumetric weight: a combination of package size and weight that makes standard online rates impractical to calculate automatically.

Please call us on 01737 222682 with the details of your order and we will advise on shipping costs within 24 hours, then ask whether you would like to proceed.

Please note:

All overseas shipments are at your own risk. We recommend taking out appropriate transit insurance to cover any damage in transit.

Customs forms for all international packages declare the full value and a description of the contents. Any customs or import duties levied on arrival in your country are your responsibility. Your local customs office can provide further information.

Returns & Refunds

We hope your order arrives in perfect condition and that you love what you've chosen. If something isn't right - whether the item is unwanted, damaged, or develops a fault - we'll do our best to make the process as straightforward as possible.

You can reach us via our contact form or by calling 01737 222682. You'll be speaking to a member of our team based in our Surrey warehouse.

I want to return an unwanted item

Unwanted items can be returned for a no-quibble refund, provided they are in resaleable condition and in their original packaging. Our returns policy normally covers the 365 days following purchase - but if you're outside that window, get in touch and we'll do our best to help.

Packing your return:

  • Wrap or box items appropriately to prevent damage in transit.
  • Do not stick labels or tape directly to the product's branded packaging - a damaged box means we can no longer accept the return.
  • The easiest method is to reuse the outer packing material and box we originally sent your order in.

If the product is not in fully resaleable condition, or the branded box is damaged, we will apply our half-price replacement guarantee and refund you half the original purchase price.

Return postage: Customers are responsible for the cost of returning items. We recommend using a recorded or signed-for service so the parcel is insured and trackable.

Items remain your responsibility until they arrive with us.
