Prep Time
Difficulty Easy

The Love Potion Martini is a bewitching blend of raspberry and rose vodka that's dangerously smooth and beautiful to behold. This elegant pink cocktail combines raspberry liqueur with delicate rose syrup and fresh lemon juice for a perfectly balanced Valentine's Day drink that's ready in just 5 minutes.

💕 Romance in a Glass: The pale pink colour looks absolutely stunning in proper martini glasses, especially with candlelight. These are sophisticated enough for a special dinner but easy enough to make any night feel romantic!

Ingredients

For the Martinis

  • 120ml vodka (good quality)
  • 60ml raspberry liqueur (Chambord is ideal)
  • 30ml fresh lemon juice
  • 15ml rose syrup (or 1 tsp rose water)
  • 30ml cranberry juice
  • Ice cubes

For Garnish

  • Fresh raspberries
  • Edible rose petals (optional)
  • Caster sugar for rim (optional)
  • Dried rose buds (optional)

Method

Optional Sugar Rim

  1. Run a lemon wedge around the rim of chilled martini glasses.
  2. Dip the rim into caster sugar on a small plate.
  3. Set aside while you make the cocktails.

Making the Love Potion

  1. Place your Riedel martini glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes to chill.
  2. Fill your cocktail shaker at least halfway with ice cubes.
  3. Add the vodka, raspberry liqueur, fresh lemon juice, rose syrup, and cranberry juice to the shaker.
  4. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the shaker frosts up on the outside.
  5. Strain through a fine strainer into your chilled martini glasses.
  6. Thread 2-3 fresh raspberries onto a cocktail pick and rest across the rim.
  7. Add a floating edible rose petal or dried rose bud for extra romance.
  8. Serve immediately while ice-cold.

Mixologist's Tips

Rose Syrup vs Rose Water: Rose syrup is sweeter and easier to work with. Rose water is much stronger - start with just 1 teaspoon and add more if needed. Too much tastes like perfume!

Fresh Lemon Only: Bottled lemon juice will ruin this cocktail. The brightness of fresh lemon is essential to balance the sweetness.

The Perfect Shake: Shake until the shaker is so cold it's almost painful to hold. This creates that silky texture and proper dilution.

Colour Control: Adjust the cranberry juice amount to control the pink intensity. More cranberry = deeper pink.

Make it Stronger: For more vodka punch, increase to 150ml vodka and reduce cranberry juice to 15ml.

Batch Mixing: Multiply the recipe and mix everything except ice in a jug. Shake individual serves with ice as needed.

🥂 Non-Alcoholic Version: Replace vodka with 120ml cold water, use raspberry syrup instead of liqueur, and top with 60ml sparkling water for fizz. Just as pretty, just as delicious!
