Spiegelau Definition Water Glasses
The Spiegelau Definition Water Glasses are a set of 4 machine-made clear crystal tumblers designed to complement any table setting, from casual everyday use to more formal occasions. Designed in 2023, the Definition collection builds on two earlier Spiegelau ranges - the Willsberger (1982) and Hybrid (2011) - using proprietary manufacturing technology to produce glasses that are notably thin and light without sacrificing durability.
At 425ml capacity and 95mm in height, the proportions are well suited to water service, though the clean, unfussy tumbler format works equally well for soft drinks and juice. The clear crystal construction keeps the focus on simplicity and elegance, making these glasses a versatile addition to any table.
- Thin yet durable crystal: Proprietary machine-made technology produces a glass that feels delicate in hand without compromising on everyday robustness
- Versatile tumbler format: Suits water, soft drinks, and juice; the stemless design works comfortably across casual and more formal settings
- Clear crystal glass: Clean, unfussy appearance that complements any table setting or existing glassware
- Dishwasher safe: Tested to EN 12875 standards; capable of withstanding 1,000 wash cycles under good operating conditions
- Set of 4: All four glasses are included at the price shown
These glasses are a practical choice for households that want well-made, good-looking everyday glassware that is straightforward to maintain.
What Customers Ask About the Spiegelau Definition WaterGlasses
Spiegelau designed these as water tumblers, and at 425ml their proportions suit water, soft drinks, and juice well. The stemless tumbler format also makes them a popular informal choice for wine. Their clear, versatile design means they work comfortably across a range of uses and table settings.
The Definition range uses proprietary machine-made technology to produce notably thin, light crystal glass. Compared to heavier everyday tumblers, these feel more refined in hand and have a more considered aesthetic. The trade-off is that thinner glass benefits from a little more care during washing and handling.
Yes, the Spiegelau Definition Digestive Glasses are dishwasher safe and have been tested to EN 12875 standards, with performance maintained over 1,000 wash cycles under good operating conditions. Use a low-temperature programme (50-55°C), ensure glasses do not touch each other or other items, and open the dishwasher door after the cycle to allow moisture to escape. Handwashing is always an option if you prefer, and will extend the life of the glass's pristine clarity.
Spiegelau introduced the Definition collection in 2022 as an evolution of two earlier ranges: the Willsberger collection (1982) and the Hybrid collection (2011). The Definition range uses proprietary new technology to produce machine-made glasses that are thinner and lighter than many predecessors whilst maintaining excellent consistency across each piece. If you would like to compare the Definition range with other Spiegelau collections, contact us and we can help find the right fit for your needs.

Care & Use Instructions
Dishwasher Use: Load glasses with sufficient space between them so they do not touch each other or any other items. Where possible, use the top rack and any dedicated glass holder your dishwasher provides. Select a low-temperature programme at 50-55°C, or use a specialist glassware programme if available. Do not overdose detergent or rinse aid, and ensure your dishwasher is regularly topped up with rinse aid and dishwasher salt matched to your local water hardness. After the cycle completes, open the door to allow steam to escape rather than letting it settle on the glass surface. Avoid washing alongside aluminium items, as chemical reactions between aluminium and crystal can cause irreversible glass corrosion.
Handwashing: Wash gently under warm (not hot or boiling) water with a small amount of mild washing-up liquid. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Use two microfibre polishing cloths for drying - not a tea towel, which can scratch the surface. Avoid drying glasses upside down on a metal rack, as this can damage the rim.
Polishing: Hold the glass in one hand using a dry microfibre cloth and use a second cloth to polish the inside and outside carefully. For water spots, add a small amount of white vinegar or citric acid to the final rinse water to dissolve limescale deposits. Note that glass corrosion - where the glass structure itself is damaged - cannot be reversed, so correct washing practice from the outset is important.
Storage: Store glasses upright in a clean, dry location away from strongly scented items, as crystal glass can absorb surrounding odours which may affect the aroma of spirits when the glass is next used. Never stack glasses or store them rim-down, as this risks chipping the rim. Rinse glasses promptly after use so that spirit residues do not sit on the glass surface for extended periods.
Microfibre Cloths: Wash polishing cloths regularly at 60°C with odourless soap to maintain hygiene. Do not use fabric softener, as this can leave a residue on the glass surface. Do not tumble dry microfibre cloths.
