Care & Use Instructions
Dishwasher Care: The Definition collection is engineered for dishwasher durability. Use a standard or gentle cycle at maximum 55°C with mild detergent. Space glasses so they don't touch each other or other items in the rack. Avoid lemon-scented or highly abrasive detergents which can affect clarity over time. Remove glasses promptly when the cycle finishes and allow to air dry with the door open to prevent water spots. This is genuine dishwasher-safe glassware, not just technically compatible - regular machine washing is expected rather than discouraged.
Handwashing: If you prefer to handwash, use warm (not hot) water with a small amount of mild detergent. Hold the glass by the base, never twist the bowl whilst holding the stem. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry immediately with a lint-free microfibre cloth or allow to air dry upright.
Polishing: For best clarity, polish glasses with a microfibre or linen cloth whilst holding the base firmly. If water spots appear, add a small amount of white vinegar to your final rinse water.
Storage: Store glasses upright in a cupboard or on a shelf where they won't be knocked. Never stack glasses or store them rim-down, as this can cause chipping and prevents air circulation.
Handling: Whilst durable for everyday use, these are still precision glasses with thin walls. Handle with reasonable care, particularly when loading and unloading the dishwasher. The balanced design makes them comfortable to hold and less prone to tipping than their light weight might suggest.

Frequently Asked Questions
Standard delivery to mainland UK addresses typically takes 3-5 working days. Next day delivery may be available on orders placed before 1pm Monday to Thursday, depending on your location and our stock levels. We pack all glassware carefully with protective packaging to ensure safe arrival.
We offer a no quibble return guarantee that allows you to return goods even after use. The items must be in a resaleable condition and in their original packaging. Please wrap or box items appropriately for transit to avoid damage to goods or boxes.
If you accidentally break a glass within 2 years of purchase, we'll replace it at half the current retail price. You'll need proof of purchase (receipt, bank statement, or order confirmation if purchased online) and evidence of the breakage (a photo is fine). We log your purchase at point of sale, or online orders are automatically recorded in our system.
The Definition Bordeaux glass is sold as a set of 2 glasses (pair) or as a set of 4 glasses (4-pack). Check the product variants to select your preferred pack quantity. The 4-pack typically offers better value per glass if you're building a full set.
Authentic Spiegelau glasses typically feature the brand mark etched into the base or stem. The Definition collection carries this marking, confirming authenticity. All glasses purchased from The Riedel Shop are genuine Spiegelau products sourced directly from the manufacturer.
The Definition collection is specifically engineered to maintain clarity through regular dishwasher cycles. Unlike many fine glasses that gradually cloud with machine washing, Definition glasses resist this common problem. For best long-term results, use quality dishwasher detergent, avoid overcrowding the rack, and remove glasses promptly when the cycle finishes. Many customers report years of regular dishwasher use with no clarity loss.
Spiegelau is owned by Riedel and operates as part of the same company. Both brands share the same varietal-specific design philosophy - the concept that glass shape affects wine presentation - but target slightly different markets. Spiegelau typically emphasises practical durability and accessible pricing, whilst Riedel offers both everyday and ultra-premium collections. The Definition collection brings Riedel's technical innovations to Spiegelau's focus on everyday usability.
