Riedel Veritas Riesling / Zinfandel Glass
The Riedel Veritas Riesling/Zinfandel glass was introduced in 2014 as part of the Veritas collection - Georg J. Riedel's brief to his technical team to produce machine-blown lead-free crystal that is 15% taller and 25% lighter than the Vinum range, whilst remaining fully dishwasher safe and practical for everyday use. Available in sets of 2 or 4.
The 409ml bowl is smaller and more focused than the red wine shapes in the Veritas range, and that is deliberate. Riedel designed this shape to balance the high acidity, residual sugar, and pronounced fruit aromatics of Riesling and comparable white wine styles - directing the wine to highlight fresh fruit character and mineral components whilst managing the perception of acidity at the finish. Riedel describes it as the most versatile white wine glass in the Veritas range: the recommended list covers Alsace Grand Cru, Gruner Veltliner, a broad range of rosé styles, and lighter reds including Zinfandel, Primitivo, Dolcetto, Bardolino and Beaujolais Nouveau.
- 409ml bowl: Focused, upright shape designed to highlight fruit aromatics and mineral character whilst balancing acidity in high-acid white wines
- Riedel's most versatile white wine glass in Veritas: Covers Riesling across all sweetness levels, Gruner Veltliner, rosé styles, and several lighter reds
- Machine-blown precision: Consistent bowl geometry across every glass in a set
- 15% taller, 25% lighter than Vinum
- Dishwasher safe: Fully confirmed by Riedel
- Available in sets of 2 or 4
This glass suits those who drink Riesling of any style regularly - from bone dry Alsace Grand Cru to Mosel Spätlese - as well as those who want a single versatile white wine glass that can handle a broad range of styles including rosé and lighter reds.
What Customers Ask About the Riedel Veritas Riesling/Zinfandel Glass
Riedel designed this glass primarily for Riesling across its full range of styles - dry, off-dry, Spätlese, Smaragd, and late harvest - as well as Gruner Veltliner, Alsace Grand Cru whites, Scheurebe, Welschriesling, Rivaner, and other aromatic, high-acid white wines. Beyond white wine, Riedel also recommends it for rosé styles including Cotes de Provence and Cotes du Rhone Rosé, and for lighter reds including Zinfandel, Primitivo, Dolcetto, Dornfelder, Bardolino, and Beaujolais Nouveau. See the full wine list on this page. For fuller-bodied white wines such as oaked Chardonnay, the Veritas Chardonnay glass would be more appropriate.
This glass is available in sets of 2 or 4. Please select your preferred pack size from the variants on this page. Because Veritas is machine-blown, every glass is produced to identical specifications, so you can add to your set at any time without concern about variation between pieces.
The common thread is freshness and fruit-forward character rather than weight and tannin. Riesling is high in acidity with pronounced primary fruit aromatics; Zinfandel and Primitivo, whilst red wines, are relatively high in acidity and fruit-driven compared to more structured varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon. Riedel's position is that this bowl shape handles both by emphasising fresh fruit character and mineral components whilst managing acidity at the finish. It is an unusual pairing on paper, but the underlying wine structure it is designed to serve is consistent across both.
Yes - Riedel's recommended list for this glass includes Riesling across the full sweetness spectrum, from dry Alsace Grand Cru and Riesling Smaragd through to Spätlese and late harvest styles. The design objective of balancing acidity against fruit and sweetness is relevant at every point on that spectrum, and the bowl shape serves the wine's acidity management regardless of residual sugar level.
Yes - Riedel confirms the Veritas collection is fully dishwasher safe. Use a gentle cycle at no more than 55°C, ensure glasses are well spaced so they cannot knock against each other, and avoid heavily abrasive or lemon-scented detergents, which can cloud crystal over time. Remove promptly at the end of the cycle. Handwashing will maintain crystal clarity for longer, but machine washing is entirely practical for everyday use.
The Veritas Riesling/Zinfandel glass is designed for high-acid, aromatic white wines where freshness and mineral character are the priority. The Veritas Chardonnay glass has a larger, more open bowl suited to fuller-bodied whites where texture, oak integration, and richer fruit character are the focus. If your white wine drinking is primarily Riesling, Gruner Veltliner, or lighter aromatic styles, this glass is the right choice. If it is predominantly oaked Chardonnay, white Burgundy, or similarly rich whites, the Chardonnay glass would serve you better.
Riedel's Most Versatile White Wine Glass
Riedel's own description of the Riesling/Zinfandel as the most versatile white wine glass in the Veritas range is borne out by the breadth of its recommended list. The 409ml bowl is smaller and more upright than the Chardonnay or Montrachet shapes, which suits a wide range of styles where concentration and aromatic precision matter more than the broad aeration that fuller-bodied whites need.
The practical implication is that this glass serves well as a single white wine glass for those who drink across multiple styles. A household that opens Riesling, Gruner Veltliner, dry rosé, and occasional Zinfandel will find this shape handles all of them competently. Those who drink almost exclusively rich, oaked Chardonnay or white Burgundy may find the Veritas Chardonnay glass a better fit - but for everyone else, the Riesling/Zinfandel shape earns its claim to versatility.

Care & Use Instructions
Dishwasher (Fully Supported): Riedel confirms the Veritas collection is dishwasher safe. Use a gentle cycle at no more than 55°C. Ensure glasses are well spaced in the upper rack so they cannot knock against each other or the dishwasher frame. Avoid lemon-scented or heavily abrasive detergents, which can cloud crystal over time. Remove promptly at the end of the cycle and allow to air dry briefly with the door open.
Serving Temperature: For Riesling, serve between 8-12°C depending on style - drier, more complex Rieslings benefit from a slightly warmer serving temperature than simpler, fruit-forward styles. For rosé, 8-10°C is typical. For Zinfandel and Primitivo, 16-18°C. Avoid holding the bowl when serving white wines and rosé, as hand warmth transfers readily through crystal.
Handwashing: Use warm water and a small amount of mild detergent. Hold the glass by the base and use a soft cloth or sponge on the interior. Never twist the bowl whilst holding the stem. Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately with a lint-free microfibre or linen cloth.
Polishing: Hold the base firmly in one hand and polish the bowl with a lint-free cloth in the other. Do not grip both base and bowl simultaneously as this creates torsional stress on the stem.
Storage: Store upright and never stacked or rim-down. Ensure glasses cannot knock together in the cupboard.
